If someone tells you that your diet should include fat-free or low fat-foods, don’t listen to them. It is important to have animal products in your diet, because they contain saturated fats and they’re need for good health. Of course, if you’ve chosen a vegan or vegetarian diet for ethical reasons, you can find healthy sources of saturated fat elsewhere, but high quality animal products can be a good source of it for non-vegetarians. A lot of people have become overweight and unhealthy by eating foods from animals that have been given antibiotics or growth hormones, so your diet should really be free of this type of animal products. Free range chicken that is organic is good for the animal product you want to eat, and so is grass-fed beef.

When you buy organic foods, you will be helping improve the environment, and at the same time your own health will be improved. Non-organic kinds of farming do more damage, than organic farming, to the soil and water sources. Organic farming is done with the land in mind, and doesn’t want to do anything that will harm it, even if that means a smaller crop.

As much as possible, the foods you buy should be grown in your local area, and be organic, to help the environment the most. The shorter the distance that the food needs to travel the less energy will be used, no matter if it is organic food or not. When you buy food that is from the local area, quite often it doesn’t have pesticides, therefore it is healthier, even when it is not naturally grown.

If you want to start losing weight, then eliminate from your diet, foods that have been sprayed with pesticides, and processed foods. There are many chemicals in our food that have a disturbing effect on people, such as causing hormone imbalances, especially estrogen in high levels. One of the reasons there are so many overweight people is because of hormone problems, most notably high levels of estrogen, in both men and women. A good reason to choose organic foods whenever you can, is because the chemicals that are sprayed on crops are causing an increase in estrogen levels. Even foods that are normally good for you, if they have pesticides on them, they can cause you lots of problems.

There have been a few ways that we have looked at for losing weight and being healthy by eating organic foods. There are many more places to buy organic foods today, and that has helped with the selections, and the prices. The ideal weight loss program consists of a diet mainly of foods, organically grown, and an exercise program that is not too strenuous.
